Prior to the formation of Tumbleweed Productions in 2008, the principals of the group worked in association with Twisted Melon to produce a little show we know and love as; Princess Cabaret.
Princess Cabaret began life as part of Sydney University’s Women’s Revue. Entitled ‘Objectify This!’ the show stuck it to those men, and women, who’ve always thought that a princess was nothing without her prince!
The show Objectify This!, opened in August 2007 and enjoyed a sell-out run at the Seymour Centre’s Sound Lounge, a 120 capacity cabaret/jazz venue in the heart of Sydney. The audience was made up of cabaret and comedy fans of all ages: university students keen to see a fresh sketch show and regular Seymour patrons drawn in by the promise of high quality cabaret.
Cast and crew had such a great time that they jumped at the opportunity to travel down to Melbourne for the 2008 Comedy Festival and appeared at the Imperial Hotel for 22 shows between 20 March & 13 April. The show was revised and expanded to better tell the ‘true’ story of Disney’s princesses. Check out the Comedy Festival pics in our photo gallery. Before and after heading to Melbourne, the show did three shows in Sydney, one at Hermann’s Bar, and two at The Roxbury Hotel.
